This weekend Davidson won the 2018 A-10 Championship! And this feeling has been lifting me up and over the random annoyances of this week (so far) — a flat tire, missed doctor appointments, friends cancelling plans, and sub-40 degree cold.
I loved seeing how Davidson basketball connects us. Three friends came over to my house to watch the game on Sunday. I loved the moment when we had 0.8 seconds left, up 58 to 57, about to throw the ball in, and my friend crouched on the floor with his arms out wide like airplane wings and shouted "Not 'til it's over, not 'til it's over!" when we realized we were going to win.
I loved sharing the victory with my two Davidson co-workers, emailing pictures of Coach McKillop having the Gatorade cooler dumped on him. I loved how my grandparents and parents watched the game, too — after my four years there, they are invested. I loved getting a message "sent with confetti" from one of my sweet senior friends: "We're off to the dance!" I love dance.
I texted my uncle and fellow alumnus in Charlotte to share the win. A journalist I had been speaking to and I rejoiced together. And of course, Steph Curry's reaction made our hearts melt.
